Actually there are 2 things that I am very passionate about: kids going to college and homeownership. And really as I write this I have realized that these two things kinda go hand in hand. Not that you have to had gone to college to own your own home but I think it's the knowledge of knowing "how" to do something that I think are the same. Okay so I guess really what I'm passionate about is knowledge. I've heard it before and I'm sure you have too "Knowledge is power" and I truly believe that. If knowledge wasn't power why would the slave masters kill their slaves for learning, why are schools in poor (black) areas lacking in real education, why is it so hard for minorities to get into college, and why don't more minorities know the process of owning their own home? Well the "why" can be answered very simply: because those in power don't want us to know and because we actually have to get up and fight to get the knowledge, we quit before we get the information we needed.
The following are quotes from an article I read online today:
"Decades after the civil rights movement, racial disparities in income, education and home ownership persist and, by some measurements, are growing."
"White households had incomes that were two-thirds higher than blacks and 40 percent higher than Hispanics last year"
"Home ownership grew among white middle-class families after World War II when access to credit and government programs made buying houses affordable. Black families were largely left out because of discrimination, and the effects are still being felt today"
"Home ownership creates wealth, which enables families to live in good neighborhoods with good schools."
"Income should not be a significant determining factor whether someone should have an opportunity to go to college"
These are the parts of the article that struck a major cord with me. I think I'll be posting on this subject a couple more times because it is so important and because I don't just want to post thoughts on these 2 subject but I want to give some "this is HOW you do it" answers.

Very good - that's right empower the peers of your reader audience to have the knowledge that will propel them to become wealthy (not just in monetary but in wisdom, knowledge, understanding and all manner of workmenship as well). :-)
Your right,Knowledge is Power, and the word of God tells us People perish for lack of knowledge. You should always be willing to learn.Yes please share the how to do it.We have to do like a movie I once saw...PAY IT FORWARD... All you've learned about how to get into College/Homeownership/etc....you know can enlighten somebody else. Pass the Knowledge forward .Great Blog Nikki
After reading this, I can actually say that we are meant to be together. I find that I too am very passionate about knowledge for our people, going to college, and definitely home ownership. For years I have been trying to get some of the guys at work to buy their own homes and some have (after the price went up 100k or so). Now I find myself wanting to help more and more people see that some of these things are not out of reach and if they continue on the path they will reach their goal. We will definitely PAY IT FORWARD!!!
